Nick is from our N litter. He is a long-legged dog with extreme drive and cooperation in one package. When his hard-hunting owner first brought him home, he had a nine year old dog that he thought would be around for awhile to teach Nick the ropes. Tragically, he died within a year and Nick took over as his only hunting dog. He has not disappointed.
Nick is a great dog around the house and all around great companion. He was never tested, as his owner has never been interested in testing…just hunting.
From his owner, Mike Yugovich: “….(Nick’s) point finished the two day hunt with Nick pointing 7 of the roosters and doing a great find and retrieve on the only rooster he did not point. Was hunting by myself so was hoping birds would not get nervous while I put the gun down and got the camera out, etc. He had an excellent one day hunt the week before in which he pointed all 4 roosters. My only complaint is that his long legs allow him to get out a long way in a hurry. In one instance when I was not paying attention (I was tired) he locked up on a rooster in short CRP grass at about 200 yards. We were on the way back to the truck and of course it was in the opposite direction. Okay……….gotta do it right. As I’m slowly closing the distance the bird doesn’t move and Nick is solid. I closed the distance and flushed the rooster. Thanks for a good hunting dog. I’m sure if I were a better trainer he would be a great hunting dog.”
